Wat Ched Yod was the site where the 8th World Buddhist Council was
held in A.D. 1477. I love visiting this quiet temple located next to the busy Superhighway, but when you are diving into this temple there is no more noise or disturbances from outside. A very powerful place in Chiang Mai.

Perfect Beauty will be the continuation of our already existing coverage of Temples in Thailand on www.chimburi.com. While we continue to cover temples with a brief description and two photos we will share more stories and photos about our experiences within those temples on this blog. All photos are copyrighted. WAT CHEDI LUANG - MAKHA BUCHA DAY - CHIANG MAI
All my friends recommended I should celebrate the evening of Makha Bucha holiday at Wat Chedi Luang in Chiang Mai. Not only is it the biggest Chedi, or rather what remains of it, after an earthquake in the 16th century damaged it, but it is the place where most worshippers go for this important holiday. A huge crowd followed hundreds of monks as they circumnavigated the ancient pagoda, praying and holding candles, lotus flowers and incense sticks. The temple grounds where filled with smoke and the whole atmosphere was filled with energy. A really nice experience to having been in the midst of such a crowd.
